Description
Crispy homemade mozzarella sticks are a perfect party appetizer or game day snack. These fried cheese sticks are coated in seasoned breadcrumbs for extra crunch and served with marinara sauce.

- 16 mozzarella string cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- Cut mozzarella sticks in half and place them on a tray. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with flour in one bowl, eggs and milk whisked together in a second bowl, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- Roll each frozen mozzarella stick in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
- For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F.
- Fry mozzarella sticks in batches for 1–2 minutes, turning until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Freezing the cheese helps prevent melting during frying.
- Use a thermometer to maintain oil temperature.
- Work in small batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
