Description

Crispy homemade mozzarella sticks are a perfect party appetizer or game day snack. These fried cheese sticks are coated in seasoned breadcrumbs for extra crunch and served with marinara sauce.


Ingredients

  • 16 mozzarella string cheese sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella sticks in half and place them on a tray. Freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour in one bowl, eggs and milk whisked together in a second bowl, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
  3. Roll each frozen mozzarella stick in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.
  4. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.
  5. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F.
  6. Fry mozzarella sticks in batches for 1–2 minutes, turning until golden brown.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
